Approval-Seeking

People who engage in approval-seeking activities are people who will do anything to get affirmation and acceptance from others. These individuals lack self-worth. They are driven by of a fear that torments, which is a demonic spirit that will cause you to fear negative responses. You will give away most of your time, energy, and personal preferences just for affirmation and approval. If you carefully examine the motivation behind this spirit, you will notice that it is instigated by the need to be seen, affirmed, or accepted. You will say yes when you really want to say no, becoming a yes-man/woman, or a total denial of your own self, needs and wants. By doing this, you know deep down inside, you are engaging in activities that invalidate your significance and importance as an individual free to make decisions independent of another's opinion.

Approval-seeking will cause you to become a feel-good junky addicted to the affirmation of others and focusing solely on their affirmations. You let others have their way with you, say whatever they want to you, treat you any way they want, walk all over you, and treat you like a doormat in exchange for a little bit of praise. Of course, you love when they call you good, godly, saintly, or angelic. Just know that it is not worth giving up your personal preference and opinion, critical thinking, purpose, vision, and desires. Do not let approval seeking cause you to  destroy your authentic self and integrity by self-betrayal, and self-abuse.

In life you will run across people who will do anything to gain center stage and to be at the center of everyone's attention, because of jealousy or feeling insecure. Stemming from their upbringing, this is the result of not having received appropriate attention from parents or guardians.

Ask God to restore your authentic self and to remove all attention-seeking activities. To place your feet on a path that leads you to a purpose-driven, principle-orientated life. Rebuke all feelings of powerlessness and ask God to restore your personal parameters of power, self-worth, and dignity. Cast out the spirit that perpetuates irrational thought processes, and make it a part of the footstool of Jesus according to Hebrews 1:13. Decree and declare that your affirmation comes from Psalms 139:14: "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." In the name of Jesus and it is so. Amen.
