There were four main groups at the earthly Temple:
a. The Chief Priest the High Priest Lev. 21:10
b. Levites the Temple ministers Num. 1:50
c. Watchmen the night watchmen Isa. 62:6
d. Israelites those offering sacrifices Lev. 23:42
The four classes of people at the Heavenly Temple:
a. The High Priest Jesus Christ Heb. 9:11
b. The Levites the 24 elders Rev. 4:4
c. The Church the Saints Rev. 1:6
d. The Israelites the Jewish Remnant Rev. 14:1
John was acquainted with the High Priest (John 18:15-18). He was allowed into the council chamber (John 18: 15-16). There are certain verses in the Book of Revelation that alludes to the seven feasts (Rev. 7:9), to ancient Temple rituals (Rev. 8:3), and to priestly customs (Rev. 16:15). John understood what he was writing about in the Book of Revelation, because of his link to the priesthood in Jerusalem.
