Life or Something Like It: The Case of Terry Schiavo suffers a heart attack, and the loss of oxygen to the brain leaves her body in what your doctors term a “persistent and irreversible vegetative state.” Her husband and her parents disagree on whether her feeding tubes should be removed. This is what happened to Terry Schiavo of Tampa, Florida. In 2003, after 13 years on life support, her husband Michael convinced a court to allow him to remove the tubes that were keeping Terry alive. Then the state legislature passed a controversial bill (“Terry’s Law”) that gave Governor Jeb Bush the right to order reinstatement of the feeding tube. A circuit court judge later struck down the bill as an unconstitutional invasion of privacy. Although Michael Schiavo and two other relatives testified that Terry wouldn’t have wanted this type of medical intervention, she didn’t have a living will. If you don’t want this to happen to you, write down specific instructions concerning the circumstances and conditions under which you want heroic measures taken to keep you alive.

  • 1.The document for this is Durable Power of Attorney Finance.

    2. What should be included in a Living Will?? is how you would like to spend your time in a nursing home if it comes down to it or if you would like at home care. or if have to be put on feeding tube would have to put that in there as well.

    3. Define intestate heir and letter of last instruction. For the first intestate is a person that died without having a will in place. A heir is a spouse or blood relative. and letter of last instruction is a informal letter that is left for survivors in your family that need to know your medical or personal matter your passing.

    4. For me i ould want them to remove the feeding tube if they tried everyuthing wwen to God and ack a 4th opinoin even. Then pull dont let me suffer.

    5. I believe its important for your family to have clearity on how you desire to spend your last years or moments before passing thats where the living will comes in. I also feel thats its good to have a will already tooking care of so family wont have to guess and agrue over what would be best or what you woulda liked done thats where the Will come in. Lastly its great to have a Durable Power of Attorney someone you can trust that will handle things while you cant anymore. its good to have someone thats going to make sure you finance and things are going where it needs too and like i stated someone you can trust with your life thats going to follow your wishes.
