Proverbs 8New Living Translation (NLT)

Wisdom Calls for a Hearing

Listen as Wisdom calls out!
    Hear as understanding raises her voice!
On the hilltop along the road,
    she takes her stand at the crossroads.
By the gates at the entrance to the town,
    on the road leading in, she cries aloud,
“I call to you, to all of you!
    I raise my voice to all people.
You simple people, use good judgment.
    You foolish people, show some understanding.
Listen to me! For I have important things to tell you.
    Everything I say is right,
for I speak the truth
    and detest every kind of deception.
My advice is wholesome.
    There is nothing devious or crooked in it.
My words are plain to anyone with understanding,
    clear to those with knowledge.
10 Choose my instruction rather than silver,
    and knowledge rather than pure gold.
11 For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies.
    Nothing you desire can compare with it.

12 “I, Wisdom, live together with good judgment.
    I know where to discover knowledge and discernment.
13 All who fear the Lord will hate evil.
    Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance,
    corruption and perverse speech.
14 Common sense and success belong to me.
    Insight and strength are mine.
15 Because of me, kings reign,
    and rulers make just decrees.
16 Rulers lead with my help,
    and nobles make righteous judgments.[a]

17 “I love all who love me.
    Those who search will surely find me.
18 I have riches and honor,
    as well as enduring wealth and justice.
19 My gifts are better than gold, even the purest gold,
    my wages better than sterling silver!
20 I walk in righteousness,
    in paths of justice.
21 Those who love me inherit wealth.
    I will fill their treasuries.

22 “The Lord formed me from the beginning,
    before he created anything else.
23 I was appointed in ages past,
    at the very first, before the earth began.
24 I was born before the oceans were created,
    before the springs bubbled forth their waters.
25 Before the mountains were formed,
    before the hills, I was born—
26 before he had made the earth and fields
    and the first handfuls of soil.
27 I was there when he established the heavens,
    when he drew the horizon on the oceans.
28 I was there when he set the clouds above,
    when he established springs deep in the earth.
29 I was there when he set the limits of the seas,
    so they would not spread beyond their boundaries.
And when he marked off the earth’s foundations,
30     I was the architect at his side.
I was his constant delight,
    rejoicing always in his presence.
31 And how happy I was with the world he created;
    how I rejoiced with the human family!

32 “And so, my children,[b] listen to me,
    for all who follow my ways are joyful.
33 Listen to my instruction and be wise.
    Don’t ignore it.
34 Joyful are those who listen to me,
    watching for me daily at my gates,
    waiting for me outside my home!
35 For whoever finds me finds life
    and receives favor from the Lord.
36 But those who miss me injure themselves.
    All who hate me love death.”

  • This Chapter was an very deep because it let's us know that they was partners hand. They was there when it all begins for everything so this was and very deep chapter. Now we must allow ourselves to grow that way as well with the Lord be on an equal path as well. We must allow wisdom to move the same way.

  • I believe we shoukd love wisdom i mean with out it nothing would make too much since the way to do things and live or focusing on easier tasks another way all would be difficult without wisdom. So I'm not lookin forward to no lofe without wisdom in it. Glad God created her she definitely been a big help to my life. Ne'eman

  • Apostle Teyshana, we have heard you say this over and over, and we have stated to apply this to our daily decree’s. As believers of our Lord of Host, we have to take time to speak into our lives in order for us to speak into others. Thank you for these words and we shall continue to move forth with a Proverb a day. My Lord of Host.

  • My God Versus 31 to 35 were my favorite.  If told us to be Happy God created us, listen to God so you can walk in Divine Joy, Listen to God instructions, If you listen to God you will always be joyful and whoever truly finds God will find their true life and calling in God and receive Divine Favor.  My God this was a powerful Proverb and reading them daily keeps the no name and his minions away.

  • Food for thought:

    Proverb 8

    “I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence;
        I possess knowledge and discretion.

    13 To fear the Lord is to hate evil;

        I hate pride and arrogance,
        evil behavior and perverse speech.
    14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine;
        I have insight, I have power.

    15 By me kings reign
        and rulers issue decrees that are just;
    16 by me princes govern,

        and nobles—all who rule on earth.
    17 I love those who love me,
        and those who seek me find me.
    18 With me are riches and honor,
        enduring wealth and prosperity.
    19 My fruit is better than fine gold;
        what I yield surpasses choice silver.
    20 I walk in the way of righteousness,
        along the paths of justice,
    21 bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me
        and making their treasuries full.

    “Now then, my children, listen. to me;
        blessed are those who keep my ways.
    33 Listen to my instruction and be wise;
        do not disregard it.
    34 Blessed are those who listen to me,
        watching daily at my doors,
        waiting at my doorway.
    35 For those who find me( find life(
        and receive favor from the Lord.
    36 But those who fail to find me harm themselves;(
        all who hate me love death.”

  • Wisdom, She was here before the foundation of the earth at God's side.  She implores us to seek her, listen to her, and obey her so that we may be blessed with her fruit in life.

  • Here, again, we are told that wisdom is available, but it will not just drop out of the sky and force itself upon us. We must want wisdom, and pray for it if we are to receive it. It is always there and always available. To get wisdom, we must activate our will to receive it.

  • Such an encouraging and uplifting scripture to read and even thou man can find many ways to ruin us but God can find many ways to restore us. That we should be seeking Jesus early and earnestly and before anyone else does. We should be happy in our spirits and led by Jesus Christ into righteousness and be ready to move when we hear the voice of God speak. We should be always looking that we don't miss out and slip back into our sinful ways and die without Christ. Love this.
