SPOUSAL SPATS CAN DAMAGE YOUR HEART

Every couple has hot-button issues- finances, in-laws, or vacations, but arguing abut them until the cows come home may be a factor in developing coronary atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries of the heart. This was confirmed by a University of Utah study of 150 married couples brought into a lab and asked to pick a subject that often triggered fights.

Researchers also found that women who behaved in a hostile manner during marital disputes were more likely to have atherosclerosis, especially if their husbands were also hostile. But husbands who made lots of domineering remarks during arguments also showed an increased risk for heart disease. More ammunition that there is a direct connection between emotions and physical health.
