Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshiping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father. And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many (St. Matthew 20:20-28 KJV). You are the only one who can answer the call of God for your life, not your mother, father or siblings, nor spiritual leader. This is a personal thing between you and God. Who knows best what he has designed for you to do but the one who made you? Your gift/calling was given to you before birth and God has been drawing/leading you into your gift at an early age. We are the only one able the to answer the call of the sacred office designed for us. If we allow someone else to answer for us, it will ruin our souls and bring damnation to others. Jesus asked, "Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with"? They answered without thought, "We are able". We need to count up the cost to serve God and be fully persuaded, so that we will not look back. Baptism among the Jews, as it was performed in the coldest weather, and the persons were kept under water for some time, was used not only to express death, but the most cruel death. As to the cup, it was a common figure, by which they expressed calamities, judgments and desolations. All who share in the kingdom of God will also share in his sufferings, but to be granted to sit at the right and left side of the Father is His choice. Jesus has been granted to sit at the right hand of God, only he is worthy of that position. STAY HUMBLE
