"In a world filled with Twitter, Facebook and so much noise and clutter we easily get distracted and gunked up spiritually. But, through fasting and an emphasis on prayer, we can hit the reset button and find the thriving life God promises."
A good portion of American Christians are planning on a spiritual start in this first month of 2011. The Christian Post reports on the Awakening America Alliance's 3rd annual "21 Days for a New Awakening" campaign.
The initiative is simply 21 days of prayer and fasting during January.
The 21-day "awakening" is scheduled to begin January 10th, going through the 30th. The prayer and fasting effort was originally begun by Pastor Stovall Weems, of the Celebration Church in Jacksonville, Florida.
Said Weems, "Regardless of where you are in your journey with God, 'Awakening' will take you to the next level in your relationship with God."
He added, "In a world filled with Twitter, Facebook and so much noise and clutter we easily get distracted and gunked up spiritually. But, through fasting and an emphasis on prayer, we can hit the reset button and find the thriving life God promises."
