Happiness DQ(WK 4)

Image result for how to be happy

True happiness, is an inner quality. It is a state of mind. If your mind is at peace, you are happy. If your mind is at peace, however, you have nothing else, you can be happy. If you have everything the world can give - pleasure, possessions, power - but lack peace of mind, you can never be happy. (Dr. Jhzen)

True Happiness is having that inner peace with oneself.

I found out that I look for the good in people and situations no matter how bad it is.....I tend to be too trusting in time...

  • True happiness to me is having Jesus. Having all of the worlds possessions does not make one happy. In my life I have done and have had cars, money etc.... Everything that the world could offer an was not happy. But having Jesus with these things I'm happy. The Lord maketh rich and add no sorrow.

  • According to your responses, you are generally the type of person who believes in the goodness of humankind. You give nearly everyone the benefit of the doubt (at least until proven wrong), and will often accept what people say and do at face value instead of making conjectures about their motives. You will at least try to find the good in even the most difficult of people, and are willing to place your faith in others. Unlike their more positive counterparts, pessimists have a lot of difficulty trusting others, believing that most, if not all people have hidden agendas. Tempered with that necessary dose of skepticism, your fairly trusting and accepting nature is refreshing, and likely provides you with a much more balanced and upbeat perspective over all.

True happiness to me come from having peace with God and his love and knowing, I have been forgiven...

What did you learned about yourself?  What do you think is the definitions of true happiness? Please explain to the class in details!

What did you learned about yourself?

I learned that I am in general the type of individual who has confidence in the virtuousness of civilization. I afford nearly all the benefit of the doubt (until proven otherwise), and will more often than not accept what people say prima facie as oppose to succumbing to suppositions about their intentions. I will at least try to identify the positive in even the most difficult people, and am willing to place my confidence in others. Dissimilar to my credulous counterparts whom seemed predisposition to be more incline towards negativism.    I am blessed with a healthy dosage of skepticism, which probably provides me with a much more balanced and unbeatable perspective overall.

What do you think is the definitions of true happiness?

A dictionary definition of happiness (ashar) is “a state of well-being, a pleasurable or satisfying experience.”  There are those who would describe Happiness as a rock between two hard places.

There are others who would describe happiness as a pause between two pains.  Each description has merit yet falls terribly short of the assertion of Jhzen who professes true happiness is linked to the inner quality of peace.  I submit that happiness (an emotion) does posses an inner quality because the emotions are located in the mind to wit the soul (spirit, soul, and body).  A closer look at happiness (more often than not) reveals that it is influenced by exterior forces (affection, desire, and feelings etc…). I submit (spiritually speaking) that this is emblematical of the struggle of the mind to control the body (flesh).  Simply put true happiness at best a distraction and at worst a covert attack.  One may legitimately premise that the term true happiness is an oxymoron. By way of explanation, the term true happiness by its very nature (an emotion) is temporal (vacillation and undependability).  For the most part, emotions are like ocean waves they come and they go.  The truth is that they come and go in the mind (battlefield) where the no name (lion) is on the prowl seeking someone to devour.   The tunnel vision pursuit of elusive true happiness predisposes one to becoming the prey of a lion on the prowl.  May I suggest we take Paul’s advise and be content in what ever state we find ourselves in as we continue to thank God for our daily bread.  I submit that to rejoice in Jesus Christ is a much more worthy pursuit.

    Explanation in detail

“The word "happy" comes from the Hebrew root word ashar and means "to set right or be blessed."  So happiness tends to be fleeting and depends upon temporal factors like circumstances or other people. Conversely, the word “joy” comes from the Greek root word chara and means "to be exceedingly glad.  Joy, on the other hand, is true contentment that comes from internal factors (Holy Spirit and spirit) like our faith in the Lord.  Paul goes on to encourage others to have peace knowing that God strengthens us (Philippians 4:13) and “supplies all our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).”
