Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." One of our greatest fears in our Christian walk is failure. Failure to live a Christian life. Because of such many have run from the call of God or try to prove that they are not worthy! Yet, the fear and the excuses seem to overlook the fact that we are not saved on the basis of our good works for... Titus 3:5-6 says... "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which He shred on us through Jesus Christ our Saviour." What we are saying is that any objection of God's call neglects the central truth that He provides us the power to live the Christian life and walk according to His ways. Before Christ was crucified He promised the coming of the Holy Spirit to help and comfort believers. The remaining of the Books of Acts supplies ample evidence of the fulfilment of this prophecy. For Acts 2:1-4 tells us that "When the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost..." The power of the Holy Spirit was not designed solely for the 1st century body of believers, but rather all Christians are indwelt by the Spirit and thus have His power available. The believer still must walk according to the ways of Christ but we do it through the power of the Holy Spirit. If we as Christians struggle in our own strength to live this Christian life we will surely fail. But we must trust the Spirit daily to empower us in specific instances such as sharing our faith with others, resisting temptation, being faithful, etc.. There is no secret formula, just trust in God that He will give you power to do His will. Philippians 4:13 reminds us that "I can do all things (of myself...NO! but) through Christ who strengthens me." God has empowered us to do all things through Christ Jesus, but without Christ we can do nothing (NO POWER). Yes, there is a fear in all of our lives of failure but we must always remember that it is not our good works but His (Jesus) Good Works that makes us acceptable to God. For Jude 24 says "Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy." We all must realize that there will be troubles in our lives but we that stand in Christ shall not fall but shall have the exceeding joy of the victory that is found in Him. Yet, we must always remember that our power is in God through Jesus Christ our Lord. For Christ is the one who hooks us in to the power of God that we may have all power. We are the lamp of the LORD to shine bright there must be continuous communication to the power source through prayer and meditation, least our glow dim. In short, we need a divine extension cord that we might let our lights shine! Have a BLESSED DAY...Be PRAYERFUL and THANKFUL for all things!!!
