Psalm 19:7-8 "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simply. The statues of the Lord is right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes." We live in a world that searches for perfection only to realize that what we thought was without defect has a fatal flaw. We buy a house or a car it looks perfect until we live there or drive it for awhile. We choose the 'perfect' mate only to find they ain't so perfect! When will we realize that what is of ultimate appropriateness and what is truly perfect will only be found in God. You know when you go to a fine restaurant the waiter is quick to point out what wine is most appropriate to go with your meal. When you got up this morning you had to make the decision of if these shoes or scarf go with this outfit or does this shirt or blouse go with these pants or skirt. Why? Because you want everything to be just right, appropriate so that you don't seem out of place. Well, I want you to know God's Word is perfect anytime. It fits in any situation, goes with every outfit you have, and will never clash with anything (But Satan and the unsaved sinner)! God's Word is good at the noonday or at the midnight hour. In the church house or the White House. In your secret closet or the boss's office. For the Psalmist said that the "law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul". Lord only knows that ours was a soul that was destined to hell had not the Lord stepped in with a perfect Word from a perfect God! And now that He has converted our souls, I can accept His testimony (His Word) which makes me wise beyond my years. "The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simply..." I'm sure each of you knows someone who has so much book sense, but the basic and simply things of this world elude them. I'm sorry, but the wisdom of God cannot be obtained from any professor, it must come from Him. The alcoholic cannot receive help until he admits he has a problem, so are we in our sinful state. God's Word is a mirror that shows us as we truly are...stinky, dirty, rotten, no good sinners, but when God cleans us up and washes us in the Blood of the Lamb, then our hearts can rejoice, for we realize the rightness of the statues of God. The commandments of the Lord are pure and will spiritually enlighten our blinded eyes that we may see the glory of God. Do you know that all the Bibles in the world will do us no good, unless we take an active role in the reading and study of God's Word. For to read and study His Word is to... ...enjoy a drink of pure water ...eat a meal of quality food ...gain a wealth of divine wisdom ...take a dose of good medicine ...discover a vein of rich ore ...accept an offer of promised help and to ...open a door of great opportunity! To study His Word is to... ...strengthen your muscles for the fight ...sharpen your sword for the battle ...gird your loins for the race ...enhance your vision for the future ...equip your hands for the works ...supply your cupboard for the famine and to ...make your preparation for the night! Therefore, to be ignorant of His WORD is to be as one lost on the sea, clinging only to a capsized boat, awaiting the inevitable death to come. Therefore, to be without His WORD is to be as one stranded in a desert, searching for an oasis, but finding none he stands parched and dying. Therefore, to be indifferent to His WORD is to be as one begging along the roadside, asking for help but receiving only the crumbs that vain philosophies can provide. Therefore, to reject His WORD is to be as one that is lost, always traveling toward disappointments and despair on dead-end roads. Therefore, to deny His WORD is to be as one who is stumbling in the dark, who denies a light to guide him and continues to fall into every dangerous crevice. Therefore, to disbelieve His WORD is to be as one who builds on a sand-dune that shifts every time the wind blows. And therefore, to dispute His WORD is to be as one who waits for the golden moment of opportunity that will never come. No matter what other people may say, No! No! No! There is just nothing comparable to the blessed WORD of our Lord. It goes with everything and makes everything better! If you really seek perfection look to God for "the statues of the Lord is right, rejoicing (bringing joy to) the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes." Have a Blessed Day...Be PRAYERFUL and THANKFUL for all things!!!
