The first month of the year was the middle of September, but God said it would be henceforward the middle of March. God sees and know just where we are and he is still giving directions. The lamb was to be already picked out and inspected four days before the actual roasting of it. The Father already knew he would send his son, the Lamb of God to be offered for the sins of the people. It was to be roasted at twilight, and killed as a sacrifice. It was not to be offered upon the altar. This was a religious cermony, acknowledging God's goodness in preserving and delivering the Israelites from the plagues inflicted upon the Egyptians. They were to take some of the blood and sprinkle it on the sides and tops of their doors of their house.The believer is covered by the blood of Jesus in all things. We are distinguished from the world. We are a royal priesthood, a peculiar people.They were to take the lamb that was to be roasted with fire and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. We are tried in the fire and will come forth as pure gold.They were not to leave any of the lamb until morning. We must trust the Father for our daily bread, and not put our trust in wealth.
