This is That

Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. David said about him:

"I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will live in hope, because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence".

Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. But he was a prophet and knew that God promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. God has raised Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, "The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."

"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off- for all whom the Lord our God will call." With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day Acts 2:22-41 NIV.

  • Amen, Confirmation Yes Lord...

  •    Jesus had life in himself, the power to lay his life down and to pick it back up again. His body was to be in the grave only for a little while, on the third day he would rise again. For his body was not to see corruption. David, the patriarch, was told by God, not speaking of himself, but of the Christ to come. He would be the father of the royal family. David as a prophet, that is how David knew that the Messiah should descend from his loins and all Israel knew that the Messiah was to be the Son of David, according to the flesh. He should be so by his human nature, he was to be David's Lord, not his son. That son was still in his loins, the fruit of his loins. That Son was to come through David's lineage, being Lord. To sit on the right of God is the highest dignity and dominion, to sit there as King until I make thy foes (enemies) thy footstool. Jesus is both Lord and Christ. He is Lord of all. The people were pricked in their hearts from the preaching of the word from Peter, who was full of the Holy Spirit. They felt pain, they were truly sorry for their sins, of helping to crucify Jesus, now their eyes have been opened by the Holy Spirit. To be most effective in the kingdom of God, we need to be full of the Holy Spirit. The people want to know what they should do to rectify their sin? Peter told them to repent and be baptized everyone of them in the name of Jesus Christ, firmly believe the doctrine of Christ and submit to Christ making an open profession of their faith. And ye shall receive the Holy Spirit. It is a gift by faith to you and your children and all that are afar off. There is grace suited to every case for everyone. It is through the preaching of the word with power from on high that bring about salvation to those that are lost. The Bible says, three thousand souls were added to the church in one sermon in one day! Keep preaching in season and out of season to build up the kingdom of God. Rest if you may, but don't give up.
