Day 5 - The Day of Forgiveness

Day 5—The Day of  Forgiveness

Lord, May I remain cognizant that forgiveness is a decision!

“El NORE”

(God that forgave - Psalm 99:8)

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

Read Psalm 99 & I John 1

Without getting an in-depth comprehension of God’s love for us, we cannot even initiate a conversation on His forgiveness.

Although we don’t usually envision it to be so, the concept of forgiveness is birthed from a seed of love.  Inevitably, when we increase and engulf an awareness of God’s love—then the decision to forgive one another will become as natural to us as breathing.

For far too long we have been deceived into thinking that forgiveness must involve forgetting as well.  Forgiveness is a decision not a feeling.  Forgiveness is not reliant upon the acceptance nor the initiation of the offender.

Forgiveness is a principle that was established by God because He knew that man would sin. He also knew that (1) sin would separate man from Himself and (2) His love for man was so great that He didn’t want to be separated from him.   Hence He has given to us His most precious gift in the person of His son Jesus to atone for our sin, thus bridging the gap caused by sin.

Therefore, whatever “traps” that I become ensnared in that will cause me to commit a sin - because of God’s unconditional love for me - the blood of Jesus has already made atonement for them. I must now learn how to receive El Nore’s forgiveness for myself and apply it to others who may offend, misuse and abuse me.  I must also realize that to walk in unforgiveness is only a deceptive tactic which has been released from the kingdom of darkness!

When people are offended, those who still have not exceled in the wisdom of the Lord will make the statement, “I’ll forgive them; but I won’t forget what they’ve done”.   Well, why not embrace this concept.  What a blessing it is to forgive and not forget – but REMEMBER! To remember the offenses that have scarred me – yet, to have finally reached a plateau of spiritual maturity in the Lord, where I now possess the ability to DECIDE that I will administer true forgiveness to my offenders…while remaining totally cognizant of their offenses toward me!  Hallelujah!  Now that’s true forgiveness!!!

Lord may I daily embrace and extend to others the true forgiveness that you have extended to me.

I decree and declare that it is so…..  In the name of Jesus – Amen

Day 4 - The Day of Deliverance

Day 4—The Day of Deliverance

Lord you are my ultimate Deliverer

“JEHOVAH MEPHALTI”

(The Lord my Deliverer - Psalm 18:2)

“Surely you shall deliver me from the snare of the fowler and from the noisesome pestilence” Psalm 91:3

Read Psalm 18 & Psalm 91

The Bible displays are least four concepts for the word deliverance.

Briefly: (1) "to deliver out of the hands of..., to escape." We can find this example in the Hebrew word “Natsal” (Strong's #5337)

(2) "drawing someone to one's self." – “Rhuomai” (Strong's #4506)

(3) "to deliver into the hands of...for the purpose of judgment."  -  “Nathan(Strong's #5414)

(4) "to have ample space between oneself and one's enemies." “Yasha” (Strong's #3467)

Therefore today we can stand assured that whatever our need is concerning deliverance; our Jehovah Mephalti is well able to manifest it.  When we combine the four definitions above we can comprehend that our God will not only rescue of His people from the dominion of Satan and the world system, but in the process of rescuing and delivering from, He will draw and deliver us unto Himself.  One commentary summarizes the entire deliverance process as:  “To be removed by God from the hand of the enemy and drawn close to Himself, from which position God places us in confrontation with the enemy on God’s own terms, in order for us to gain victory and defeat the enemy, and to experience freedom from oppression in an ample and secure place.”

As you seek your Jehovah Mephalti today, ask Him to reveal to you the areas in your life where total deliverance has not yet occurred - as well as any obstacles and road blocks that are still preventing you from obtaining your total victories.

Today I will embrace every concept of deliverance.  I will also never permit my mind to return to its former state.  Therefore, my deliverance will produce to a lifetime of freedom ….never, ever to be bound again.

I decree and declare that it is so…..  In the name of Jesus – Amen.

Day 3 - The Day of Resurrection

Day 3- The Day of  Resurrection

                           “El Hay”

(The Living God – Joshua 3:10, Jeremiah 23:36, Daniel 3:26)

“And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.”   Joshua 3:10

      Read: Joshua 3

To bring resurrection to something it must first be: dead, lying dormant, non-productive, insensitive, or non-responsive.  Therefore, every position, every platform, every angle from which I operate, must be brought into the alignment of what corresponds with “life”.

Today is the day that I will look in retrospect at my life from my earliest remembrance.  I will search for those character qualities that were once common ground and associated with who I was.  Although there may have been instances when those character traits where “out of control”, I must realize that today is a new day.   I therefore must now resurrect them by the power of you, El Hay and alter the platform from which they operated. I must realize that since you instilled them in me – they are to be used for your glory.  Everything and anything that at one time may have been distorted; and used for the edification of the kingdom of darkness – and that I have discarded; must be resurrected and used for its intended purpose; which is the exaltation of your glory.

Since you, El Hay are the living God; and you dwell in me, I have the power of life within me.  I have the ability to effectively administer C.P.R. (Controlled, Positioning & Restoration) to the heart of the many ideas, dreams, and aspirations that I have “placed on the shelf”.  I also have your God given authority, to take an affirmative position against the enemy and to place his attacks of death under “H.G.A.” (Holy Ghost Arrest).   I will never again permit him to intimidate me through disappointments, discouragement and the like.

Because you live – I SHALL live.  Because you restore life – I SHALL restore life.  Because you produce rebirth – I SHALL produce rebirth. Because you generate revival – I SHALL generate revival.  It is because of whom you are, my El Hay; that I SHALL LIVE and not DIE, but efficiently and successfully declare the works that you have assigned to me…and resurrect all for your glory.

I decree and declare that it is so…..In the name of Jesus.  Amen

Day 2 - The Day of Joy

Day 2-The Day of Joy

You O Lord are the source of my joy

“El SIMCHATH GILI”

(God my exceeding Joy - Psalm 43:4)

“……...This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”                                                        Nehemiah 8:10

Read Psalm 43 and Nehemiah 8

Today, Lord may I begin to comprehend that you ARE my joy.   May I realize that my mind must be renewed to the concept, that my ability to remain joyful (full of joy) in the midst of adversity, is one of the battles that must be won.  Consequently, Lord I will totally understand that you and you alone are the nucleus of my joy.  Everything that is necessary for my “JOY” has its basis, its focus and its core emanating from you Lord.

Therefore today I invite you, El Simchath Gili to infiltrate my mind, thus permitting me to remain joyful throughout this day.  I will not allow any circumstance that may arise today cause me to lose my focus.

So I thank you now, El Simchath Gili for your guidance, direction and the provision of your “joy” - that will be required for this day.  May the joy that you bring empower me and offer to me the foundation to stand strong today and always.

May I continue to reflect on the strength and encouragement of our patriots who walked by faith as they sang:

“This joy that I have, the world didn’t give it and the world can’t take it away.”

I decree and declare that it is so…..  In the name of Jesus – Amen.

Defeated Foe or Confident Warrior…….The Decision is Yours!

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

If we were to take a quick poll of those who are operating in leadership positions within the body of Christ; we would readily discover that many are operating from the mentally of “defeat” instead of “confidence”.

Today ask yourself from which platform you are truly functioning.  Does your confidence in the promises of God end at the onset of the least little “boo” from the enemy’s camp?  If so… you’re a Defeated Foe!  Has your level of faith still not matured to the state where you can place your petitions before the Lord; according to 1 John 5:14 & 15 and move on?  If not….. you’re a Defeated Foe!   Are you still “hoping” that the situations will change after you’ve confidently made all of your decrees and declarations?  If so… you’re living your life as a Defeated Foe!

A warrior is one who maintains the mindset of victory.  They can’t be conquered!  Even in the event that the outcome of a given situation may appear to show signs of loss – a true warrior always wins!  Why?  Because a true warrior has the mental stability and maturity to remain focused on their target – regardless.  It doesn’t matter the nature nor the source of their opposition, they will remain focused in the midst of any situation.  A true warrior knows that they may encounter disappointing SITUATIONS, but THEY are never defeated …because they triumph in every situation (2 Corinthians 2:14).   A confident warrior will have many battle scars – yet they will still say and mean – “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face” (Job 13:15).  A confident warrior will genuinely believe that their hope and trust are in the Lord. (And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee. Ps 39:7). A confident warrior will “Always and ALWAY” (w/o the “s”) – have a Praise in their hearts and a shout in their mouth (Ps. 34:1).  A confident warrior never quits – but maintains the tenacity of a bull dog.  A confident warrior is NEVER impressed nor surprised by anything that emanates from the enemy’s camp – but views every circumstance as an opportunity for God to do the miraculous and His name to be glorified!

So I ask again – Which are you… Defeated Foe or Confident Warrior? Your works and lifestyle tell the story!

Your Axe-head Will Float Again (part 2)

(Read: II Kings 6:1-7)

In yesterday’s devotion our focus was drawn to the servant.  Today we will begin to discuss the stick in this story.

Briefly, here are a few facts:

  • ·       The stick that was used was a freshly cut branch.  Elisha, didn’t use the helve after the hatchet had been lost.  He dispatched something new to retrieve something old.
  • ·       He released a lesser vessel (the wood) – to expose the heavier (the iron axhead).
  • ·       The stick is symbolic of the cross.

What is our application for today?

  • ·       God is using new strategies to bring restoration to old situations.  The axehead was symbolic of hard work.  Today, God’s new strategy is to get us to realize that HE has already done the hard work – physically.  Our focus must now be directed more to the realm of the spirit than to that of the natural.  We are no longer accountable to the law – which gave us rules and regulations that were accomplished through “working”.   We are now governed by the grace of God – which requires us to appropriate faith.   (Yes, faith w/o works is dead – but we don’t work to gain faith.  We work as a corresponding action “TO” our faith….. Another lesson!)
  • ·       In this season God is using those people and ministries that appear to be of a weaker and less notable reputation to have an authentic impact in the realm of the spirit.  He is using those who have the ability to be thrush into situations; and to bring exposure, closure and restoration to that situation.  He is using those who are pure in heart, actions and devotion to Him.  It therefore doesn’t matter how weak or limited one may appear to be….. Purity = Power.
  • ·       The stick represents wood.. which represents the cross.  The cross settles everything.  Whatever the issue, dilemma, adverse situation or problem.  It was settled at the cross.  It doesn’t matter.  The blood which was shed on the cross – settles EVERYTHING!  The blood of Christ was shed from at least 7 different places on His body.  Therefore wherever we throw our stick ….(wherever we apply the cross); restoration will occur.

(to be continued)

Just as God was able to use Elisha to move strategically in that emergency situation; He wants to have the ability to use you – immediately in any given situation.  However you must have made the proper preparations prior to the onset of an emergency situation.

Are you ready to be used as an “Elisha” ?   If so…. Expect God to use YOU in seemingly impossible situations!

(Not ready to be used?  Then stop the procrastination and begin TODAY the daily process of mind renewal.)

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”  Hebrews 13:8

Your Axehead Will Float Again

Your Axe-head Will Float Again

(Read: II Kings 6:1-7)

This story as recorded in II Kings has always been among one of my favorites.  Today we will not even be able to “scratch the surface” to reveal all that can be gleaned from the examples and principles provided in this story.  However, we’ll probably come back to it at a later date.

The focus for this meditation is the servant.  He was: working, in the right place, doing what he was instructed to do, using the proper tool and appearing to be accomplishing the task that was required of him.  However, all of a sudden – he was faced with a dilemma.  The very tool that he was using for advancement – which wasn’t even his, (he had borrowed it) – had vanished into the river – never to return again…. So he thought.

When you are faced with a dilemma – who is your first line of defense?  Many times we turn to a spouse, friend, colleague or family member.  Our servant in this story cried to his master.  He cried to someone who had the wisdom, faith and the solution to recover for him what he had lost.

The axehead in this story can represent any tool (or weapon), that’s necessary for me to be effective as I attempt to move towards my advancement.  Or any tool (or weapon) used to bring down, cut down or cut through diabolical plans or natural road blocks.  The servant had temporarily lost sight of his weapon.  However with the proper guidance, and instruction, he was able to see the return of his valuable tool.  So, just remember that your situation isn’t hopeless; no matter how it may appear to you.

It is only when we are in the proper place; receiving the proper supervision; anchored by the proper support and obeying the instructions which are given to us - that we will be able to cause our “axhead” to float again.

The servant had to DO something.   He didn’t just sit and weep about his situation.  He didn’t just tell his friends or colleagues. He told his MASTER! He told someone who had the wisdom to correct the dilemma, and the power to bring about the recovery of want he had lost.  The servant may have had faith, however “Faith” without corresponding actions – is dead.

As we are in this season of recovery; expect your axehead to float again.  Expect every weapon that is needed for your advancement in this season to be recovered.  Expect the outcome of every situation that appears to be impossible, receive an immediate reversal.

So go now and recover your axehead – but don’t do it your way (leaning to your own understanding!). You must listen to and adhere to the voice of your Master!  You must listen to the voice of wisdom….which may be delivered to you by God directly through His word or by someone who can provide you with the careful and watchful guidance.

Your axehead will float again.  However you must be in the proper place, listening to the voice of your Master and doing only that which is relevant in this season for your recovery.

“Wise men and women are always learning, always listening for fresh insights.”

Challenge for the Day!

Challenge of the Day!!!

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34, 35

I recently visited a church where the congregation sang an awesome love song to the Lord.  When I left, the Lord said to me, “If half of the people who SANG about their love for me actually SHOWED that love, then the world would truly know who I am”.  He went on to say how in most instances we really don’t know how to express authentic love.  This is because what we call love is not true love, but usually some warped expression that has been passed on to us by others who were also unclear on the definition of love.  He said, “It’s so simple!  I’ve shown you exactly what love is and even had it penned in I Corinthians 13.”

Sadly to say….normally, we will show expressions of what we call love to those to whom we think or feel are deserving of it.  Or to those who: look, sound, and smell like us!  …Those who shop where we shop, eat where we eat and drive the vehicles complimentary to ours.  Now don’t misunderstand – it isn’t wrong to enjoy the “finer things” in this life.  However, it’s now time to realize and begin to comprehend the full essence of God’s unconditional, uncompromising, “no holds barred”, love for us.  It’s time for you to realize that God needs to use you to extend to others the type of love that He has shown to you.  It’s time to for us to expand our mindset, slay that demonic spirit of pride, and begin to be an example of the love that we sing about.

So the mission for today (Should you decide to accept it!) …. is to SHOW an expression of unconditional love to someone that you normally would not consider.   Ask the Holy Spirit to work out all of the details….and He will.  He is just waiting for a “Yes” from you.  Then, daily ask the Lord to use you, as the channel through which He can show this dying chaotic world who He really is.  People need to know that there is hope… and that all is not lost.  They need to know that we have a God who is still the Lord over every situation and circumstance…. and who loves them unconditionally!

Yes, it’s okay to sing about the love of the Lord…. And that appeases us.  However, it’s far better to SHOW His love…..and that pleases Him!

“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.” Romans 12:9-11 (ESV)

I'll Be A Witness...But to THEM???

I’ll be a Witness…… But to Them?

Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.”

 St. John 4:9

Question for today….Who is included in your “them”?  Far too often we will be avid witnesses for the Lord; and express a sincere concern for lost souls…..except when it comes to “them”.  Now, we’ll be the first to vocalize that we are not prejudice; nor biased in our soul winning concerns.  However, most of us have unconsciously established boundaries and perimeters, outside of which we don’t venture when it comes to seeking out the lost.

When God inspired the writers to pen the scriptures, every single example used, was done with a purpose.  As we re-read our text, it is evident that it is extremely detailed.   One of the examples that Jesus was attempting to show us is the fact that we can’t permit the characteristics which a person may possess in the physical realm, to forbid us from fulfilling a deficiency that they may possess in the realm of the Spirit.  As we further analyze the story, we can observe that Jesus knew that her need for contentment had not been found in her previous experiences.  Therefore, He ignored that fact of her gender, her lifestyle and her heritage.  He went deeper.  Even throughout their entire conversation, He sought to fulfill the spiritual – while she initially lacked the ability to comprehend His message and His purpose.

So we must expand our mindsets to view others – first in the realm of the Spirit.  We must be open to eagerly witness to “them”.   We must become more mature in the realm of the Spirit and   seek for those who we would not ordinarily witness to…..to those, to whom we through our own prideful mindsets, feel as though we shouldn’t witness to.  Now…. 99% of the time, whatever reason we will use to validate our actions of neglect, has risen from the residue of pride, fear, or low self-esteem, that is still lingering around!

Your “them” may include: the rich and high sidity; the poor; the homeless; those who are bound by mental challenges – including those who are involved in unnatural sexual relationships; those who are of a different ethnic origin …..and the list is endless.  However, you will still be held accountable for not expressing the love of God to your group of “them”!

Refuse to permit the enemy to cloud your reasoning any longer.  We must be about our Father’s work.  God daily orders our steps to cross those to whom we should witness.  However, we must sharpen our discernment… and walk in such an awareness and obedience to Him; that we will seize every opportunity to be a witness for Him.  We must eliminate the groups of “them” from our lives.

Ezekiel 33:6 reminds us of the importance of being a witness to everyone who hasn’t been warned about their sin nature.

I would like to challenge you to broaden your horizons concerning soul winning.  The Lord has continued to delay His return.  This is giving those who are still lost an opportunity to get “it together”.  It is our obligation to seize every given available occasion to express a concern for those who are not saved.

We must enhance our concepts concerning the loss….. eliminate our group of the “them”….. and yes, find the loss…at any cost!

“But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone's life, that person's life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.” Ezekiel 33:6  (NIV)

I'm Still The Legal Heir

I’m Still The Legal Heir

Read: II Samuel 4:4 & II Samuel 9

One of my favorite writings from the Bible is found in II Samuel 9.  This story is about a boy named Mephibosheth.  I don’t have the time to relay the entire story…. But, the bottom line is that Mephibosheth, who was the son of Jonathan, and the grandson of Saul was being carried by his nurse when he was quite young. One day Jonathan and Saul were both killed in the same day.  The city became in an uproar.   Mephibosheth’s caretaker was trying to protect him from any harm by removing him from the commotion.  So she began to run with him in her arms. However, while she was running; in her haste, she dropped him – and as a result, he became permanently crippled.   Longer story short…. He was therefore sent to live in a place called Lo Debar.   Years later, King David inquired if there was anyone still alive from the linage of Jonathan.  Mephibosheth’s name came up. King David sent for him; rescuing him from Lo Debar and brought him to live in the king’s palace.  (Please read the entire story again to obtain and to grasp a more in-depth understanding.)

Today we must remember that negative incidents from our past can’t prevent us from receiving what is rightfully ours!  There are certain blessings that we are privy to - simple because of whom we are.  Mephibosheth had no idea that he was going to be blessed.  As a matter of fact, when King David sent for him, he was fearful thinking the worst!  Simply because usually when a King sent for you it meant the worst.   However…Mephibosheth was a legal heir – and wasn’t even aware of that information.  He had no idea that the King’s summon for him was to relay some awesome news!

So I can NEVER forget that because of my spiritual linage I am a legal heir to everything that my spiritual Father possesses!  Hallelujah!!!!   I am an heir of my father’s; and that makes me a joint heir with Christ (Romans 8:16).  I therefore, can expect to walk in the power and in the authority the Christ possessed; yet in a greater magnitude; producing a greater return (John 14:12).  Wealth and riches are in my house (Psalm 112:3); and the devourer is rebuked (Malachi 3:11)!

As a legal heir I must realize:

  • ·       Who I am, whose I am and for what purpose I have been placed where I am.
  • ·       I am called to live in this world; however my royal linage will not permit me to become comfortable in anything that doesn’t represent my regal status.
  • ·       My every anticipated provision has already been accommodated for.
  • ·       When God’s appointed time arrives: He is able to and will send someone from somewhere to come and rescue me from my “Lo Debar” … invite me to the King’s table… and reward me what is rightful mine.

…..Because I AM a legal heir…. I have at my disposal ALL that I truly need, all my needs ARE met.  I AM the head and not the tail…Above ALWAYS and NEVER beneath.  So it matters not the physical APPEARANCE of my current situations.  I AM the legal heir…. therefore, I decree that soon and very soon…today even…. the manifestation of who I really am will begin to become physically evident!  (Because it already exists in the realm of the Spirit!)

So...Because I am a legal heir…  I AM walking in my greatness, and Greatness is my portion – REGARDLESS!!!

The 7 Types of Faith

Faith, Faith, Faith

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17

We have been taught through the Word of God, that Faith is obtained by not simply listening to the Word of God – but through understanding that Word that we hear.  However, what so frequently occurs is that we don’t properly understand the Word.  Then, since we don’t fully understand the Word, the enemy is able to steal the effectiveness of the Word.  (Read the explanation of the parable about the sower and the seed as recorded in Matthew 13:18-23).  Without the proper understanding – we open the doorway of our minds to the knocks of fear, doubt and unbelief.

We are all given a measure of faith.  However, it then becomes our responsibility to move forward and upward on the “faith ladder”.  I would like to encourage you to check out the seven types of faith that I’ve listed below.  No doubt this list is not conclusive - just a simple measuring stick to get the ball rolling.

Want to unlock the pathway that leads to more faith??? – The master key is labeled.. “HEARING”!  But not mere listening…. But repetitious listening that will enter my outer ear; begin to penetrate through and dismantle my former mindsets….. and find a resting place in the depth of my spirit.   When the Word that I comprehend begins to institute change …. I am on the road to producing a HEARING ear.  It is this “hearing ear” that creates the platform my faith to be increased!

********************************************************************

Seven Types of Faith

(Not Listed in any Specific Order)

1.     Natural Faith (Ex.- The type of faith that we extend to: bus drivers, our Doctors, our

banks,  - no one has ever questioned a bus Driver about their credentials – we just

by “natural faith” take a seat and ride!)

2.     Little Faith (Matthew 6:30)

3.     Mustard Seed Faith (Matthew 17:20 – small but potent)

4.     Great Faith (Matthew 8: 8 & 10)

5.     Measure of Faith (Romans 12:3)

6.     Faithless Faith (John 20:27)

7.     Visual Faith (Luke 5:20)

Remember: Faith without a corresponding action is still dead. However, the key is this: Don’t  attempt to proceed with an ACTION, until your level of faith has matured to the extent, that it will permit the manifestation of your request!

It’s Your Temple…. It’s Your Responsibility

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”  I Corinthians 9:16

Sometimes we seem to forget that because our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost, that we must be careful what we permit to enter this temple on every level.  Usually, we are cautious in regards to our spiritual intake.  We make certain that our spiritual diet is rich in content and we filter out everything that we feel would attempt to hinder our spiritual growth or stamina.

We have the spiritual aspect pretty well covered.  However, what about in the natural?   Are you doing your part to maintain your physical health as well?  We sometimes forget that the maintenance of our temples is our responsibility.  While we can quote our confessions concerning divine healing and walking in good health – if we are not putting the proper food into our bodies – we are simply working against our confessions.  Many people think that if they are thin that they are healthy – not necessarily so.  Only your physician can advise your concerns in that area.

Here in the USA we are about to enter what some are calling the flu season.  As with the recession; I have chosen not to participate!  However, I will move in wisdom to assure that I maintain a healthy diet - as to not give the enemy any access in the natural.

I recently came across the list below which will be beneficial in the boosting of your immune system.  Remember your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost – therefore God expects YOU to keep it healthy.

7 Flu – Fighting Foods (by Niss Simon)

Tomatoes – Vitamin C rich.  Boost the body’s natural defense system in the same way as their citrusy relatives do.  One medium produces 40% of your daily vitamin C requirement.

Almonds- Rich source of the antioxidant vitamin E which helps to ward of viral infections.  To maximize absorption opt for chopped almonds, almond butter or almond oil.

Mushrooms – Heighten the body’s resistance to viral infections by increasing the natural killer cells.  Rich in selenium; low levels of this element have been linked with an increased risk of developing more severe flu.

Tea – Green, black and oolong all contain naturally occurring compounds that reduce the risk of the flu.  They contain quercetin – a powerful antioxidant, and L-threonine, an amino acid found naturally only in tea.  Decaffeinated teas also contain the amino acid, but most herbal teas do not.

Carrots – rich in beta-carotene; which the body uses to ward off respiratory infections.  Other good sources are dark green vegetables, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and winter squash.

Black –Eyed Peas – Rich in zinc. Pinto beans, peanuts, roasted pumpkin seeds and wheat germ are other good choices.

Yogurt – Probiotics, found in yogurt and other fermented foods strengthens the immune system.  Cottage cheese, kimchi, and sauerkraut will have the same affect.

Let’s be more determine in 2017 to truly live life from the inside out; and become more conscience concerning the total maintenance of our temple – Spiritually as well as physically.

Remember…It’s Your Temple and its entire upkeep is YOUR responsibility!!!!

“But I discipline my body and keep it under control,……….”  I Corinthians 9:27

Are you still waiting with great expectation for your next miracle?  Well… that’s great!  However there needs to come a time in our lives, when our level of faith augments from little faith to great faith.  In other words, in all actuality – Why did Christ perform miracles?  Was it not to affirm His character among the non-believers, increase their level of faith, and to draw them into a trusting relationship with Him?

A miracle can be defined as an act of God that can be identified by both believers and non-believers; and that defies the laws of nature.

As we do a little research we will readily discover that every miracle is associated with some degree of faith.  Miracles are for those who are still yet “babes” in their level of faith concerning the Lord. (I Corinthians 14:22)

So, let’s climb down out of those high-chairs, take the bibs from around our necks and walk in the assurance of every Word that God has spoken!  It’s time for us to live a lifestyle of daily occurrences that defy the laws of nature. It’s time for us to walk in the confidence of the Lord that is recorded in I John 5:14.

How do we increase of level of faith?.... By getting out of the boat.  In other words …by coming out of our comfort zones and trusting God to do exceeding, abundantly MORE that we could ever ask or think…  And know that He will do it according to that power that works, lives and reigns in us. (Ephesians 3:20)

Come on now… The world needs to see US; the true believers God, living a lifestyle that is “Faith” filled and one where the principles of God are exemplified on a daily basis.   We should not walk in a “Fear” filled lifestyle as they do.  Our lives should of course display many examples where God has intervened and revealed His faithfulness.  However, we should not spend our days in a state of uncertainty… merely “hoping” that God will manifest a miracle and release us from a situation….. a situation that maybe He has permitted; simply in an attempt to catapult us to our next level in Him!

So instead of always looking for a miracle; let’s say as Paul said; “Whatsoever state I’m in, I’ve learn to be content (Philippians 4:11).  Whatever situation arises  - I won’t worry, nor will I pray for God to immediately alter it.  My mind is set and focused.  I know with a certainty that God loves me….and that He is working everything, everything, everything for my good.

Miracles are awesome.  However, as we mature in the Lord, we will learn to live according to His kingdom principles.   We won’t NEED God perform a miracle to validate His presence– but we will have learned how to patiently apply His principles.  We will learn how to use our words to command the results of every situation to come into alignment with God’s written word.  We will daily rest in the assurance of His faithfulness.  We view every situation as an opportunity to give Him the glory… not for all things – but IN all things…..REGARDLESS!!!!!

The Tithe & the Tip

                                                                   The Tithe & The Tip

“What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me [How can I repay Him for all His bountiful dealings?]?”  Psalm 116:12 AMP

I recently read an article in “Money” magazine that offered suggestions in reference to tipping those who render specific services to and for us.  The listing included everyone from various walks of life.  As I read through the list, I observed that every person, whose vocation was mentioned, was receiving at the very LEAST ten present!

It appears that we have no problem expressing our gratitude to people when they supply us with a few “comforts of life”.  We will even often be very generous to them when we feel as though their services rendered to us were outstanding.

Therefore, if we are willing to demonstrate to mere people our appreciativeness; why is it that so many devoted; scripture quoting; Bible toting; Saints of the Most High God; have a problem giving back to Him?

Far too many have become “bamboozled” or “hoodwinked” when considering their giving unto the Lord.  In all actuality, we, as endtime Saints are no longer bound by the law.  We are supposed to use the principles which were established under the law (in the Pentateuch) to build our foundational truths.  However, we have been redeemed from the law.  The New Testament expresses free will giving.  Yet, since the ten percent idea was already established in the O.T…. we are to now use that as a minimum for our giving – not a maximum.  We haven’t really accomplished some great feat when we deposit our little ten percent into the tithe box!  The waitress at a local “greasy spoon” is receiving more than that!  Therefore, how can we be content to offer to GOD; who is our FATHER; who is the creator of the entire UNIVERSE; who is supreme in every aspect; and enables us to go out and to obtain our money…..  a ten percent  tithe/offering and be content???? It never ceases to amaze me how people will claim that they can’t afford to tithe!  Yet these same people will participate in various saving programs and plan for a vacation – yet never consider putting aside a special offering for the Lord!

Why are some so apprehensive concerning their giving?  One of the reasons is that they have not been liberated from the spirit of poverty.  That spirit and its big brother: the spirit of fear, are a “dynamic duo”.  Their power must be broken if one is to become a New Testament; free will giver.

So, what shall I render unto the Lord?   Yes, I will render myself as a living testimony of His miraculous redemptive, saving, and sustaining power. However, I will also never esteem others higher than I do the Lord when it comes to giving; especially the giving of money.  Therefore, when I say that I’ve surrendered all – to the Lord – I have really surrendered ALL……even my finances!!

The Search Is On…Do You Qualify?

“……The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: ……. Luke 10:2

The Lord is still seeking those who are qualified to be an example in leadership.  Now…. you’ve been “saved” for quite a few years; you know quite a few scriptures; and can effectively convenience someone of their need to deepen their relationship with the Lord.  However, do you qualify as a potential for the current search?

1.     Does my love for the Lord reflect in my: emotions, reasonings, and my actions?

2.     Do I spend quality time in the presence of the Lord – daily?

3.     Am I a bold advocate for the cause of Christ?

4.     Am I familiar enough with my “sword” as to know the “flavor” of its content?

5.     What is the opinion of the people in my community concerning my: integrity, friendliness, and my active involvement within the community?

6.     What about my employer and my fellow coworkers? What is their opinion of my Spiritual convictions?  Do they even know of my profession concerning my Lord?

7.     What does my check book reveal concerning my stewardship in the area of finances?

The Spirit of Goliath

The Spirit of Goliath

“Your servant has struck down both lions and bears, and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, since he defied the armies of the living God.” I Samuel 17:36

We, the body of Christ must continually be on guard for the endtime release of familiar spirits.  Although their approach may be enhanced or altered to reflect our current times – the underlying spirit is the same as before.  One of these is the spirit that I’ll call the spirit of Goliath.

This spirit will attempt to taunt, boast, and present an appearance of supreme rule over the body of Christ.  It will attempt to paralyze the body of Christ and to infiltrate our minds with fear, doubt and disbelief.  It will also attempt to challenge, mock and to belittle through repeated verbal proclamations.  Unless this spirit is recognized; we the endtime body of Christ will begin to become subject to and submissive to the boundaries which it will impose.   We are gradually beginning to be plagued by thoughts of hopelessness and the feelings of defeated and worry – simply because of the constant onset of negative harassment emulating from this spirit.

However, we have been already been given the “Ability & Authority” capsulized with the wisdom from the Holy Ghost, thus enabling us to conquer every demonic force (Matthew 10:1; Luke 10:19).  The power that engulfed David (I Samuel 17) and empowered him with the wisdom to defeat the lion and the bear had already prepared him to successfully stand and slay Goliath.  We also have defeated our lions (things that have attacked us from the ground) and our bears (attacks which have approached from above).  Therefore we have passed the test and are ready to kill this “Goliath Spirit” without hesitation.

Lastly, we must also remember that in this season, the attacks are geared more to our minds than to any other areas of our being and our lives.  If this or any spirit – other than the Holy Spirit can intervene into our thought patterns for just a brief moment we risk defeat!

The attacks are just beginning and will become more intense in the future.  However we must never forget that– THE BATTLE HAS ALREADY BE WON!  We only have to remain focused, and adhere to our instructions from the Lord concerning the maintenance of our daily walk with Him.  Set you affections, your cares and your attentions more on the things which are above….  Above your present level of operating….Above what you currently think that you are capable of accomplishing… Above the opinions and stimulations of others!

Remember that the sky isn’t the limit…you have no limit!  In this season, you can achieve MORE than anything that you can ask or think! Refuse to become intimidated by anyone or anything.  You ARE more than a conqueror!  So place everything that is contrary to what God has decreed, under the subjection of the power that reigns within you!

Slay that spirit of Goliath at its onset, maintain your focus, keep your affections on Kingdom Principles….and you won’t have to be overly concerned about succumbing to the power of this or any other demonic force.

“Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”  I Peter1:13 NASB

The Strategy to Navigate

The Strategy to Navigate

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” Philippians 2:5

Although we may not be aware of it, but each new day presents an array of situations and circumstances which require us to “assess and conquer”.   Many times we are aware of specific challenges that will “grace” our day – and we’ve had the time to adequately prepare for them. However, sometimes these demands will be unexpected and require that we make split-second decisions.  Nevertheless, in either case – God has equipped us with an ability to advance through each situation successfully.  We have within us; although far too often undeveloped; the ability and the skill to strategically navigate through this maze that we call life.

To maneuver successfully through our own “obstacle course” not only requires skill, but: patience, endurance and concentration. (You’ll see this trio again!)

I found an app for my phone which gives me the opportunity to engage in a game called labyrinth.  This game has a labyrinth board which is composed of numerous holes through which one must successfully guide a small metal ball.  It is not until you’ve completed level 1, that you are permitted to progress to the next level - each level increasing in difficulty.

Life can be compared to that small metal ball on the labyrinth board.  Life is an obstacle course through which we must carefully, patiently and skillfully be guided and directed.   It demands that we take a seat – physically and mentally to map out a plan that will successfully enable us  to navigate around all of the potholes that the enemy has waiting for us.  We can usually get a “heads up” on some of them by surveying our natural bloodline.  Then as you discover various inherited “potholes” –  whether in the natural or in the realm of the spirit; use your kingdom authority to completely eradicate them.  Then declare that the buck stops here! Forbid the manifestation of anything that is not of the Holy Spirit to rest, rule or to reign in your life.    Remember…the enemy isn’t too smart!  However he is strategic and persistent.  Therefore, you must be strategic in your planning if you are going to outwit the enemy and navigate productively through your labyrinth board.

Lastly, but most importantly….as always…… we must consider our mindset … for it is our determining factor.  One of the most over overlooked, misunderstood….. but vital focuses in Christendom is the subject of mind renewal.  Yet, it is essential and the prerequisite to our success on every level.  The process of mind renewal must be taken more seriously if we are going to effectively outmaneuver our enemy.

I would like to encourage you to increase, strengthen and awaken your current mental status – in the natural!   One sure way to begin this process is by engaging in logic puzzles and memory games.   Challenge your mind to accomplish a task that you haven’t been able to achieve in the past.  By trying a variety of puzzles, you will awaken various areas of your brain.   Without regards to your age, begin NOW and refuse to permit the spirits of Alzheimer and Dementia to occupy space in your mind….simply because some of your brain cells have become deaden due to the lack of proper activity or deterioration!

To be victorious we must come to the realization that every successful battle is won when the proper strategy has been devised….. and then the navigation process is formulated according to that strategy!

We must remember that an active mind is a productive mind.  A productive mind now must become a disciplined mind. A disciplined mind is ready to begin the perpetual process of strategically navigating through your personally designed - endtime diabolical labyrinth board!

“Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”                                               Romans 12:2 - New Living Translation

The Essential Foundational “Ships”

As we continue to progress upward and inward; we must on a regular basis check on the anchorage of our “ships”.  We must be certain that these ships are still sailing at their highest momentum; unhindered by any contrary forces that we have established.  Far too often we have a tendency to excel in one area; while another is left uncharted.  Let’s prayerfully review the “ships” listed below. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance in making any pertinent alterations.

LORDSHIP – Is God the Lord of my life?  How much validity does my life display or reflect with regards to being a living example of His written Word?  Does my proclamation the He is Lord in my life warrant me as a candidate to be considered as a twenty-first century disciple of Christ?  When He is Lord, every area of my life presents a positive reflection of who He is. (Galatians 2:20)

MEMBERSHIP & FELLOWSHIP – “No man is an island”.  Therefore we must remember that we are all a pertinent puzzle piece to someone’s puzzle.  One thing that is extremely frustrating,  is to attempt to complete a puzzle and realize that some of the vital pieces are missing.  God has created us to be communicable creatures with the desire to “belong”.  Therefore, when are actively involved in a positive productive group – we are content.  Civic and secular group memberships are necessary; but should never outweigh our commitment to our local church family.  (Hebrews 10:25)

STEWARDSHIP – The importance of our Stewardship can’t be limited to just our finances.  The Lord expects us to be conscientious and to use wisdom in the dealings with everything that we encounter.  The accountabilities of Stewardship can even be extended to our thoughts, our actions and of course to our gifts. (I Peter 4:10)

There are others ship which are also sailing in our spiritual seas such as: friendship, leadership, ownership and partnership….just to name a few.   However, in our daily quest, let’s stabilize those listed above.  Then we will discover that we will become a more profitable servant for the Lord.  As we make the investment to sail these ships efficiently, we will possess the ability to bring Him glory; on a regular, daily basis…. And in every situation.

The Faith Progression

The Faith Progression

“And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”  Luke 11:9 & 10

It appears that many Christians believe that the intensity exerted when praying; or the volume of their voices when praying; reflects their ability to receive an immediate response to their request.

I often refer to Paul’s request to the Lord in reference to the “thorn in the flesh”.  The Bible specifically states that he sought the Lord three times.  Why?  It seems to imply that he wasn’t accustomed to making a request that many times.  Today, we would have said, “Come on Lord…I’ve asked you 3 times…what’s up?  Why haven’t you done what I’ve asked you yet?”

I know enough about God, my Father, to understand that He is omniscient (all knowing, all seeing and very well informed!).  Therefore God doesn’t have to place me in a given situation and WATCH my reactions or responses to know what I will do.  He has already known exactly what my responses will be prior to me even being born.

However, I must undergo a progression in my level of faith that will bring forth to me the manifestation and the revelation of God’s response to my request.  Sometimes we can simply “Ask”- something….and the answer is given.  Everyone has that level of faith.  Then there are times when we must dig a little deeper.. – the “Seeking” level.  (Like when you can’t find something and someone else comes in… moves a few things around and discovers what you couldn’t find! You may have looked -but they sought.)  The seeking level is when the revelation of an answer to our prayers may require that our level of faith be increased. At this level, we are required to wait a little longer prior to seeing the manifestation of our request.  Then there’s the “Knocking” level.  Knocking expresses repetitive motion.  It implies that there is a barrier or a blockage in front of me – something preventing me from gaining that access that I so desire.  So at this level, God is attempting to get me to move out more in faith and take the necessary measures to destroy whatever is preventing me from receiving the access to His response.

Walking by faith in God requires that we understand the principles of Asking, Seeking and Knocking.  Strangely enough, if we take the first letter from each of those words we will form the word ASK.  Could it be that God is trying to tell us that our faith must progress to the simple level of merely asking and then believing it to be done?  Far too often we tend to make the process more difficult than God intended it to be. He simply wants us to Place our petitions before Him (Ask); Then continue to stand in faith – not wavering nor losing heart. Just finding more scriptures to support our petition that has already been placed before the Lord (Seek); and finally be PERSISTANT in our expectation of the petition placed (Knock).

God’s ultimate desire for us is to develop our level of faith in Him to the extent that once we have placed our petitions before Him… that we immediately begin to react as though that petition has been granted.  We declare that we are walking by faith; however most of us are not.  Most of us are still walking by sight.  Why do I say that? Simply because many will place the same petitions before the Lord day after day – until they physically SEE the manifestation!   We will sing and say, “Don’t wait til the battle is over…shout now”.  But in our hearts we are still doubting and walking in a diminished degree of faith…. And not totally shouting and rejoicing until we physically have be granted our petitions.  In all actually most are walking by SIGHT and not by faith!

So let us be determined that we will no longer “walk around in circles” in the area of our faith.  Let us exercise our faith….stretch our faith…. And be more “unwavering” in the area of our faith.  Let’s grasp the total concept of Asking, Seeking and Knocking…. And we will discover that our level of faith will progress from; little faith to great faith to mountain moving faith.  Then we will daily walk in that level of faith, which will produce in us an expectation and an undeniable manifestation of God’s favor in every area of our life!
