After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God." (Rev. 7:1-3 NIV)
There are 144,000 Jews mentioned in Revelation chapter seven. There are four angels- one over each of the four regions on earth (Matt. 24:31; Rev. 7:1). The angel from the east comes with the seal of God (this is the Middle East area). The "seal of God" is linked to the Holy Spirit that works through believers. If you are "of" God, then you have His seal upon you. Scriptures references regarding the seal of God: Eph. 1:13, Eph. 4:30, II Cor. 1:22, and II Tim. 2:19.

Joseph may allude to Ephraim but the tribe of Dan is missing from this tribal list. Why is Dan missing? In Judges 18:30, Dan was the first tribe to lead Israel into idolatry. In Gen. 49:17, Dan was called a "serpent in the way and an adder in the path." Dan is also said of to "bite the heels of the horses." The tribal area is today the coastal area of Israel's modern cities. The 144,000 Jewish men will be protected from the antichrist in the first forty-two months of the tribulation.
