An United Attack

When Adoni-zedek, the king of Jerusalem, heard how Joshua had captured and destroyed Ai and had killed its king, the same as he had done at Jericho, and how the people of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were now their allies, he was very frightened. For Gibeon was a great city - as great as the royal cities and much larger than Ai - and its men were known as hard fighters. So king Adoni-zedek of Jerusalem sent messengers to several other kings: king Hoham of Hebron, king Piram of Jarmuth, king Japhia of Lachish, king Debir of Eglon. "Come and help me destroy Gibeon," he urged them, "for they have made peace with Joshua and the people of Israel." So these five Amorite kings combined their armies for a united attack on Gibeon Joshua 10:1-5. Please read the whole 10th chapter of Joshua to get the understanding more fully. To know the full story, to get the idea of what happened in the end.

This is what happens when the enemy know that you are about to forsake your old lifestyle, your old way of doing things. When you are tired of going around the same mountain and not progressing. He becomes nervous, thinking he is loosing his hold on you. He grabs every force at his disposal to help him. Because the enemy knows that you are getting ready to walk out of his clutches, he actually increases his attack on you to hold you in sin. That is why it seems the battle gets harder right before the victory. But, because you are known as a hard fighter, you have won the victory through Christ Jesus! Praise God! You did not give up, even when the battle was tough. You stayed on in there when the furnace was turned up seven times hotter than usual. Now victory, joy, peace, love, abundant blessings are yours! STAY THE COURSE TO THE END! For the end of the matter is better than the beginning.
