And now the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea, an honorable counselor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. And Pilate marveled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead. And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulcher which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulcher. And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Jo'ses beheld where he was laid (Mark 15:42-47 KJV).
The Sabbath commenced on the Friday evening at 6 pm. The evening commenced at 3 pm. Our Lord must be buried before 6 pm. Joseph of Arimathea was one who waited for the kingdom of God. God raised him up for such a time as this, for this honorary service. Special notice was taken of Christ's sepulcher, because he was to rise again. Also God was in the asking by Pilate, if Jesus was already dead. So there would be no pretence to say Jesus was alive at this time. Pilate gave Joseph permission to take down the body of Jesus, and do what he pleased with it. Some of the women beheld where Jesus was laid, that they might come after the Sabbath to anoint the body of Jesus, because they did not have time to do it beforehand. ARE YOU CRAVING THE BODY OF JESUS? DO YOU WANT TO KNOW HIM IN A BETTER WAY? DO YOU WANT TO BEHOLD JESUS?
