As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." At once they left their nets and followed him. Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him. (Matthew 4:18-22 NIV)
Jesus is interested in families, household salvations. He called these two sets of brothers to follow Him. They were already fishing in the natural, Jesus takes our natural and makes it supernatural in the kingdom of God. He uses everything we have learned to propel the explanation of the gospel. He used parables, something the people were familiar with to explain the kingdom. Don't be surprised when the Master asks you to give up the natural for the supernatural in your line of duty. Our response should be just like these brothers, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed Him. THERE IS A GREAT REWARD IN FOLLOWING CHRIST!
Peter answered him, "We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?" Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. (Matthew 19:27-29 NIV)
