With her the kings of the earth committed adultery and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries." Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns. The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES

In Revelation chapter 17, Mystery Babylon the harlot is a religious system that is judged. In Revelation chapter 18, Babylon is an economic system that is judged. There is the BEAST (kingdom) and the WOMAN (a city and religious harlot).
The history of Babylon (in Iraq): The first Babylon was the tower of Babel in Genesis chapter 11. The next major Babylon was founded and expanded by King Nebuchadnezzar. Babel was the first global economy, religion, and empire. Babylon was the first empire to destroy Jerusalem and the Temple, and take Jews captive. There is a political Babylon and a religious Babylon (Rev. 17 &18). 1. Religious - Rome, Italy and the Roman church system and it will emerge in the lasts days. 2. Political - Europe (Europa) and the destruction of the political power of Europe that are linked to the ancient Roman empire.
The Political Babylon - European Union (the rape of "Europa") is a Greek myth that tells how Europe got its name (legend). Zeus-Jupiter (the "father of gods") disguised himself as a white bull and saw Europa (beautiful woman). He took her to a beach, raped her, and she became pregnant with Minos. In ancient mythology, Europa was considered to be a female goddess that rode on a bull with crescent horns (the symbol of the Middle East for Baal). Baal was the ruling god of ancient Babylon. This same image is being used today in the E. U. (European Union), including on Parliament buildings, coins, and posters. It is possible the harlot rides a beast that is a bull with crescent horns. The crescent horns are an emblem of ancient Baal worship, linked to the crescent moon. The horns on Baal idols are in the form of a crescent. Baal was also a god of the weather. The crescent became an emblem of the Islamic religion (it is on the mosques). Europe was invaded by the Muslims for centuries (France, Britain, Germany), over run by Muslims who will not conform to a dress code. They do not believe in borders or passports, they do want one currency.
The imagery may represent Europe (the E. U.) merging with the Muslims.
Point 1. The Islamic religion is becoming strong over parts of Europe.
Point 2. In Rev. 17:12, the ten kings will give their kingdom to the antichrist in one hour.
Point 3. The two feet in Daniel 2 are east and west (west is Christian and east is Islam).
Point 4. This woman will "ride this beast" eventually to her death.
Point 5. There are two chapters, one is religious (Rev.chapter 17) and one is more economic (Rev. chapter 18). Europe and E. U. (European Union) riding on the back of the beast. In Rev. 17:18, the woman is a harlot religious system called "Babylon. Many scholars believe it is the Roman Church in total apostasy at the time of the end. John hid the name Rome using Babylon to protect the book of Revelation. Rome was compared to Babylon to hide the meaning (John would have been killed for his writings).
Rome and Babylon both destroyed Jerusalem on the 9th of Av. Rome and Babylon both destroyed the Temple on the 9th of Av. Rome and Babylon both took treasures out of the Temple in Jerusalem. Rome and Babylon both took the Jews captive as slaves. Rome was the city ruling in John's day over the earth. Rome would develop a religious "mystery" system called the "Roman Church." BABYLON WAS A CODE WORD FOR ROME.

Heaven rejoices at Babylon's destruction (Rev. 19:4).
1. Babylon becomes a stronghold of demons, foul spirits, and hateful birds.
2. The Euphrates River area is where four evil angels are bound (Rev. 9:14-15).
3. Now the antichrist will impact the entire world.
After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting:
"Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adultries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants." And again they shouted: "Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever."
The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried: "Amen, Hallelujah!" Then a voice came from the throne, saying: "Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both small and great!" Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: "Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear." (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints).
Then the angel said to me, "Write: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!" And he added, "These are the true words of God." At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy." 1. Much people are rejoicing saying, "Alleluia" (Rev. 19:1)
2. Twenty-four elders are saying, "Alleluia" (Rev. 19:4)
3. The great multitude in heaven is saying, "Alleluia" (Rev.19:6)
4. The Marriage Supper is announced (Rev. 19:9) It will last a year in heaven.
Our God reigns! Millions will be singing this song, making a Great choir. All the saints that were martyed, God has avenged their blood, the blood of the righteous. Praise ye the Lord means Alleluia. This closing time period is coming toward the end of the tribulation, as Mystery Babylon is destroyed and the Marriage Supper is celebrated in heaven!
Why some believe "Religious Babylon" alludes to the Roman Church: These references describe the woman and the city in Rev. chapter 17.
1. Purple - The color used by all the Bishops
2. Scarlet - The color used by all the Cardinals
3. Precious stones - The wealth (donations of pilgrims)
4. Golden cup - The main chalice is gold or silver with gold inside
5. Blood of saints - The Roman Empire slew multitudes of saints
6.Blood, those who killed Jesus - The Roman soldiers crucified Christ
7. Sits on seven mountains - Rome sits on seven hills
8. Ruling over the kings - Rome has influenced Europe's kings for centuries
9. The "souls of men" - Could allude to the doctrine of purgatory
A spiritual harlot is one that follows a false religious system (Jer. 3:1, 3:6, 3:8; Ezek. 16). An apostate system that will deny Jesus is the Son of God and merge two religions. She sits upon many waters, many nations of people. Nations are identified as many waters and sea (Isa. 17:12-13). Many nations in the Middle East and parts of Western Europe are surrounded by water. She sits on seven hills (a dual meaning). The Vatican sits on these seven hills. Two major ancient cities were built on seven hills - Rome and Constantinople. Rome was the headquarters for the West and Constantinople for the East. The seven hills are also the seven mountains and seven kings. There are seven continents on earth in which the Roman Church has been dominant. The seven empires begin with Egypt and conclude with the revived Roman Empire. She (the harlot) is supported by many nations, kings commit fornication with her. Spiritual fornication is called whoredom and alludes to idol worship (spiritual adultery). The Old Testament prophets wrote of this (Ezek. 23:37).
The wealth of the woman (the Vatican is wealthy). From articles over the past several years revealing the wealth of the Roman Church system. The Vatican has investment banks (Rothchilds) Hambros Bank, London, Zurich, and New York. Billions of shares, in major U.S. companies total 500 million alone. U.N. magazine - gold wealth is several billion - some in gold ingots at Federal Reserve banks. Land, property, and wealth, the Vatican has the greatest amount of wealth of any world institute.
The woman is drunk with blood (Rev. 17:6). The Romans slew Jesus on the cross, and persecuted the saints for three centuries. There were ten persecutions for about 300 years and tens of thousands killed. The Roman Church system also had the Spanish Inquisition. From 313 to 1600, it is estimated that 50 million have been slain (drunk with blood). The woman is that city (Rev. 17:18) Rome, Italy. The Roman Empire ruled when John wrote the book of Revelation around 95 AD. Rome was the city ruling during Imperial Rome and also during the Roman Church. The woman "rides" a beast." An ancient imagery that links to Europe. The beast is Islamic but swallows the woman (Europe) and burns Rome (Rev. 17:16). Muslim banking does not charge interest. The city is burnt in one hour by fire (Rev. 18:10,18) bombs?
