The tree of life was in Eden but originated in the heavenly city (Rev. 22). The river of life flows out of the Throne of God in the city (Rev. 22:1). The streets are laid out through the city near the river (Rev. 22:2). The tree bears twelve different types of fruit each month (Rev. 22:2). The leaves of the tree have healing power for the nations (Rev. 22:2). The phrase "tree of life" is mentioned ten times in the Bible. The tree of life in the Old Testament was in the Garden of Eden. The tree of life will now appear in the New Jerusalem. It has orchards, a lot of trees.Ancient civilizations 5500 years ago had ideas about the tree of life. The ancient Sumarians (the Iraq area) had drawings some say was the tree. It was a pole with flowers and seven fruits on either side. The tree of life has twelve different types of fruits growing on it. The leaves will heal the nations. There is no sickness in a resurrected body (the spirit is made perfect) Heb. 12:23. Adam ate and it preserved him; the leaves will preserve those people making up the new earth. Jesus ate fish and bread. The angels eat manna.God made the New Jerusalem for everyone that wants to be there! The city will come down to earth. The base is 1500 miles square and it would take up half of the United States. If the city came down on America, it would stretch from Maine to Florida and coast to coast. The Lamb is the light of the city, there is no darkness there. Light expels darkness. There is no need to sleep there. There is no devil in the city. The wicked are outside the gates of the city. Those who did not accept Jesus before the first resurrection.There will be people who make it through the millennium, these will populate the new earth. The saints will judge and rule over them. Isaiah 66:22-24 says, "As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me," declares the Lord, "so will your name and descendants endure. From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me," says the Lord. "And they will go out and look upon the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; their worm will not die, nor will their fire be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind." There will be an opening, portal where the people on earth will be able to see the people in hell and this will restrain them from rebellion.

Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city (Rev. 22:14).
