In Gen. 3, Satan is the serpent in the garden of Eden coming as the tempter. In Job 40, the behemoth is a prophetic picture of the future false prophet. In Job 41, the leviathan is a prophetic picture of the dragon and antichrist kingdom.
The dragon (Satan) in heaven, is represented by two emblems: 1. The dragon (draco), is in the center of the heavenly circuit with his eyes on the virgin. 2. The serpent (hydra) takes up a third of the circuit of heaven, Rev. 12:4. There are four names given to Satan in Rev. 12:9:
Great Dragon - He is the god of this world
Old Serpent - He is the deceiver
The Devil - He is the slanderer
Satan - He is the adversary
The dragon has seven heads and ten horns. The seven heads is the seven major empires of prophecy. They are Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece, Rome and the Rome division. There are also seven chief prince spirits that rule these empires (see Dan.10). The seventh empire rules for 42 months and the eighth and final empire rules for 42 months or 3&1/2 years.
The dragon (satan) is very active at this point. There will be persecution by the dragon. The dragon will attempt to destroy the seed of the woman, which is Israel (Rev. 12:4). The dragon attempts tp persecute the woman (Rev. 12:13). The dragon sends a flood to destroy the woman, Israel (Rev. 12:15). The dragon can't kill the woman so he goes after the remnant (Rev. 12:17).
The man child is the Jewish remnant, the 144,000. There will be protection of the man child by God. Israel will flee to the wilderness where God will sustan her (Rev. 12:6). Petra is the area where this will occur - in Jordan or Edom (Psa. 60:6-12). Israel will survive the persecution, the flood, and satan's wrath (Rev. 12:13-16). Israel will remain in the wilderness for 1,260 days, or 42 months (Rev. 12:6). The antichrist will not have rule over Petra. The man child was a target of satan and the fallen angels (Rev. 12:4). The man child will rule all nations with a rod of iron (Rev. 12:5). The man child was caught up to the throne of God (Rev. 12:5). The 144,000 are "caught up" (Rev. 14:1-2) and this is a remnant of Jews fleeing!
