Before we can go any further we need to clearly understand that there is a spiritual
being named Satan who is also described in the Bible as Lucifer, or an angel of light.
'And no wonder! For satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.' (2
Corinthians 1 1:14)

There is also, of course, the Trinity, namely God the Father, God the Son and God the
Holy Spirit, and the person who has committed themselves to Jesus Christ as Lord and
Saviour has the indwelling presence of these three Persons of the Godhead.
Ever since the fall of Adam, there has been a spiritual battle going on for the possession
of men's minds and spirits. The Scripture is perfectly clear about the existence of Satan
and his kingdom, for indeed as we read . . .
'Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.'
(Matthew 4:1)
And we read of His temptation. Jesus resisted and overcame Satan by the power of the
Word of God. Satan has spiritual powers under his authority in descending orders of
authority. Thus we read in Ephesians:
'For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of
wickedness in the heavenly places.' (Ephesians 6:12)

satan's authority over the nations
Satan places unseen princes and powers of the air over every nation and city with
descending orders of authority all the way down to demons which walk on the ground
and seek a home. They have a craving to live in an unclean body.
`When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest,
and finds none.
Then he says, "I will return to my house from which I came." And when he comes, he
finds it empty, swept, and put in order.
Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and
they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall
it also be with this wicked generation.' (Matthew 12:43-45)
This is not necessarily a human body, it can be the body of an animal:
`And all the demons begged him, saying, "Send us to the swine, that we may enter
them." '
And at once Jesus gave them permission. Then the unclean spirits went out and
entered the swine (there were about two thousand), and the herd ran violently down the
steep place into the sea, and drowned in the sea.' (Mark 5:12, 13)
These spirit beings seek to rule over countries, over cities, and even over churches by
bringing with them hordes of demonic powers such as envy, jealousy, unbelief, pride,
lust, and ambition. All of these descending orders of authority are under the control of
satan himself.

demonic princes
Many times when I go to preach in various countries, cities or churches; I wait upon the
Holy Spirit and He gives me a clear indication of the nature of the demonic power which
is exercising control over that particular place. We remember the reference to such
powers in Daniel chapter 10, when Daniel was fasting for three full weeks and the angel
of the Lord appeared to him with a body like beryl, his face like the appearance of
lightning and his eyes like torches of fire, his arms and feet like burnished bronze in
colour and the sounds of his words like the voice of a multitude (Daniel 10:6).
This angel described how Daniel's prayers were heard by God from the very first day.
The angel had come because of Daniel's prayers, but the prince of the kingdom of
Persia, an angelic being, had stood against God's angel for
21 days and Michael, one of the other archangels had come to help him as he battled
the demonic prince of the kingdom of Persia. The angel went on to say that he had to
return to fight with the prince of Persia again and referred also to the prince of Greece,
another angelic being.
These demonic princes have authority in the heavenly realms over the nations and seek
to withstand the authority of the kingdom of God.

spirit of jezebel
This spirit which is a powerful prince of the air is revealed in particular in Isaiah 47. The
prophet Isaiah refers to her through the Holy Spirit as 'the virgin daughter of Babylon'
and He is speaking to a great spiritual power of the air over Babylon. She has been
called 'The lady of kingdoms'.
Read what Isaiah says:
'Therefore hear this now, you who are given to pleasures, Who dwell securely,
Who say in your heart,
"I am, and there is no one else besides me;
I shall not sit as a widow,
Nor shall I know the loss of children." ' (Isaiah 47:8)
Truly, she considers herself in place of God by saying, 'I am, and none else beside me,'
and also she has children. However, she will know the loss of those children:
'But these two things shall come to you
In a moment, in one day:
The loss of children, and widowhood.
They shall come upon you in their fullness
Because of the multitude of your sorceries,
For the great abundance of your enchantments.' (Isaiah 47:9)
We find in Revelation 17 and 18, confirmation of the Scripture. We see the woman
arrayed in purple and adorned with precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a
golden cup full of fornications and filthiness of her fornication:

'The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet and adorned with gold and precious
stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the
filthiness of her fornication.' (Revelation 17:4)

She was named Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots and abominations of the
world:
'and on her forehead a name was written:
"MYSTERY,
BABYLON THE GREAT,
THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES
AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS
OF THE EARTH."
(Revelation 17:5)
We find the words of Isaiah repeated in Revelation 18:
'In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure
give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, "I sit as queen, and am no
widow, and will not see sorrow.''
Therefore her plagues will come in one day — death and mourning and famine. And
she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her.'
(Revelation 18:7, 8)
It is noteworthy that she is the first of the strong men to be cast into the lake of fire and
brimstone.
This great harlot spirit which today is manifesting more and more in the world has been
one which is difficult to see and to understand. In fact, in Isaiah 47 she says, 'No one
sees me.'
'For you have trusted in your wickedness;
You have said, "No one sees me";
Your wisdom and your knowledge have warped you;
And you have said in your heart,
"I am, and there is no one else besides me." ' (Isaiah 47:10)
Obviously, she is a spirit of great pride and believes that she has been able to hide from
everybody.
feminism
It is this great harlot spirit which is manifesting in the world today through extremes of
feminism. As we have already seen from the Scripture referred to, she is involved in
sorcery and enchantments, also she is involved in astrology, stargazing and
horoscopes:
'You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels;
Let now the astrologers, the stargazers,
And the monthly prognosticators
Stand up and save you
From these things that shall come upon you.' (Isaiah 47:13)
This great spirit which, up to this generation, has manifested so widely is now exposing
herself more and more through the drug culture, rock music, marital breakdown, pornography, and every conceivable form of lust and filthiness; hence she is called the
mother of abominations.
This is the great demonic spirit that is increasingly coming upon the world in these last
days. She is one of the princes of the air against which we need to stand.
She is in direct opposition to the will of God, is based totally upon idolatry and
disobedience to the first and second commandment of God.

Jezebel Personified
We see Jezebel personified in Scripture as the wife of King Ahab (1 Kings 16:31-33).
When King Ahab failed to buy the vineyard of his neighbor, Naboth, Jezebel conspired
to kill Naboth by false accusation (1 Kings 21:7-14).
We often find that where there are a weak man and a strong woman that the woman is
affected by the spirit of Jezebel.
We should also remember that men can also be affected by the spirit of jezebel. When
a man has a controlling, dominating personality and will not listen to others and rides
rough-shod over the will of other people, then it could well be that there is a spirit of
Jezebel affecting him.
Church at Thyatira
In Revelation chapter 2 we find her again referred to when Jesus Christ is talking about
the church at Thyatira. While he is referring specifically to a woman in the flesh he is
also referring to the spirit that is operating through that woman and affecting that
church. Consequently, he pronounced judgment upon her if she persisted with her
conduct because she was affecting the whole church.
'Nevertheless, I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel,
who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and beguile my servants to commit sexual
immorality and to eat things sacrificed to idols.
And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent.
Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great
tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds.
And I will kill her children with death. And all the churches shall know that I am he who
searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your
works.
But to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, and
who have not known the depths of Satan, as they call them, I will put on you no other
burden.'
(Revelation 2:20-24)
Her Children
From my own experience in following a search of the Scriptures, I have concluded that
some of her children are as follows. I do not suggest that the list is necessarily correct in
every respect or exhaustive, and maybe the Holy Spirit will guide the reader further in
this area, but I have found from experience that if we bind this great power of the air by
agreement with others, then we can expect to see real deliverance as far as churches
and individuals are concerned. I suggest her children are:addictions and apostasy
