87, 89, 91 (or higher) …. What’s Your Octane Level???

Whether you are aware of it or not, you have been created to operate as a luxury vehicle! Bear this in mind as you read and for the remainder of your life!

Therefore, stop using “87” when you require “91” (or higher)!

If you own or have ever owned an automobile, you will relate to these numbers.  They refer to the octane quality of the fuel that is required to successfully operate most vehicles… for now.

When a vehicle is constructed, the manufacturer knows the operating systems and will advise the owner to purchase the gasoline which possess the correct octane level for that vehicle.  Now, can the owner purchase a lesser quality than what is recommended? Absolutely!  However, when the car begins to operate poorly, the manufacturer can not be held accountable.

One who has purchased a luxury automobile, would never entertain the thought of depositing “cheap fuel” into their vehicle.  Why not? Because they understand the value of their possession and they also understand the required maintenance for such a vehicle.

So, let’s relate this entire scenario to our lives.  The Lord, who is our ultimate manufacturer (creator) has intricately designed us to operate as “luxury vehicles”.  However, it becomes our responsibility to maintain our vehicles (bodies) properly.

Proper maintenance begins with a well-defined prayer life that matures as our relationship with the Lord becomes more intimate.  Generally, fuel for our automobiles is graded as 87, 89 or 91.   Fuel for our prayer lives can be referred to outer court fuel, inner court fuel and holy of holies fuel.

I have a question, What is type of fuel is fueling your prayer life?  God’s desire is for each of us to no longer fill our “ spiritual tanks” with “87” or outer court fuel.  As we aggressively seek to advance in the development of our prayer lives, we will learn how to only be filled full with “91” or holy of holies fuel.  This type of fuel will produce such an intimate relationship with the Lord that:

  • We will know the perfect love of the Lord (I John 4:18)
  • We will know and operate in the power and authority that we have been given (Luke 9:1)
  • We will value ourselves as the “luxury vehicles” that He has created us to be. (1 Peter 2:9)

So, don’t become satisfied with just knowing God on a superficial level.  Again, ask yourself, “What is the octane level that is fueling my level of intimacy with the Lord?”. Develop that “91” (or higher) level of intimacy with the Lord! Then you will begin to operate and perform as the luxury vehicle that you were created to be!
