Lighthouse or “Lite” House?

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”  John 1:5

The light within the lighthouse is always shining.  However, its light is only visible when there is an absence of; or a limited availability of sunlight.   Sailors would often rely on the lighthouse to guide them or to warn them of dangerous conditions at night or when the weather was cloudy.  So, although the light from a lighthouse would shine just as brightly in the day; its light was totally irrelevant…until darkness appeared.

We have been called to be the lighthouse for the world today.  The unsaved can be compared to a sailor who is lost at sea …in the dark.  They, the world, are wandering around looking and hoping to find some refuge and comfort for their minds.  They are looking for answers.

The dilemma is this; instead of those who are called to be the lighthouses, standing as the lighthouse; far too often, we stand as a “Lite” house.  This word lite refers to something which contains a low or lesser amount of a substance than the original item.  Therefore, a “lite” house would not contain the power to withstand the storms of life; and would therefore succumb to the pressures of this world.  A “lite” house is one who professes Christ with their mouth; but their works and lifestyle example a completely different revelation.  A “lite” house is also one who feels as though they are called into a leadership position – however they themselves, are not possessing the maturity to permit their light to consistently shine in adverse conditions!

Consider the following:

  • A lighthouse will stand in faith believing in the promises of God; however, a lite house will give in and think that God has forgotten them and that He won’t fulfill His promises.
  • A lighthouse will continue to pay their tithes and offerings regardless to their circumstances; however, a lite house will make excuses and stop when their finances become challenged or problems arise.
  • A lighthouse will have the ability to stand and to be a living witness for the Lord without regards to their surrounds or to the circumstances; however a lite house will lack the boldness, stamina and loyalty to God which is required to be a living example in every situation.

And the list could continue.  However we must remember that the Lord needs us to stand in these last days and to be true lighthouses for Him.  The darker the night the brighter the light.  In other words…. as this world becomes darker and more of the endtime diabolical plans of the enemy are daily released; we, the true lighthouses must shine brighter.

Lastly, we must remember, that if our lights are to be seen…. We must be willing to be in the midst of the darkness… and yet shine! So be determined that you will be a true lighthouse; one who will stand strong and shines the brightest in the midst of every “dark” or adverse situation….. And one who will never permit their light to go out nor to become dim!

(Note: Those of you who know me, know that I’m old school and that I love a good hymn every now and again! This one I remember from my childhood.  Its history is phenomenal!)

Let the Lower Lights Be Burning

Lyrics By Philip Bliss

Verse 1

Brightly beams our Father’s mercy, From His lighthouse evermore,

But to us He gives the keeping, of the lights along the shore.

Refrain:

Let the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the wave!

Some poor struggling, fainting seaman… You may rescue, you may save.

Verse 2:

Dark the night of sin has settled, Loud the angry billows roar;

Eager eyes are watching, longing, For the lights along the shore.

Trim your feeble lamp, my brother; Some poor sailor, tempest-tossed,

Trying now to make the harbor, In the darkness may be lost.

Refrain:

Let the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the wave!

Some poor struggling, fainting seaman… You may rescue, you may save.

  • A lighthouse will stand in faith believing in the promises of God; however, a lite house will give in and think that God has forgotten them.. My God, Thank you Apostle Claudia, for this this was a mouth full. I see i use to live as the Lite house alot in my life. I still have work to be done but i see im moving more into being a lighthouse now. Because those thoughts i use to entertain when i was being a lite house. My God thanks for opening up another awarness for me. Praise God.

  • This was an very powerful message Apostle Claudia.. Thank you.. for letting us know the difference between an lighthouse and lite house. Now I can most definitely see the difference an it taught me a lot. That the reason why our light don't shine because we haven't truly open up our light house. We only been dealing with the lite house all theses years an now it's mostly definitely time me to pick a side like truly.
