Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

Have you ever been in a place where things just don't seem to be moving? There may be times when you feel like you have lost connection with the Lord, having a hard time discovering that intimate place with Him. There are a few things that you can do to help get things back on track.

The first thing you can do to get yourself "tuned in" to God's presence is to do nothing. That is right. The first thing you need to do is "nothing."

1. The Absence of Something

Psalm 35:13 ...I humbled myself with fasting, and my prayer would return to my own heart.

Awakening and appetite for GodThis particular "nothing" I'm referring to here is the absence of something. David discovered that when he removed some food from his belly prayer returned to his heart.Sometimes we just need to re-establish communication.

It may not take all that much fasting to bring you into a place of sensitivity to His presence. Sometimes we just get into a pattern of eating just for the sake of eating. Breaking that pattern to focus on the Lord can be just the thing you need to help give you a breakthrough in His presence. It may just be one meal or a day (see Mark 2:20). The key here is that you realize that it is not just the absence of food but the desire to be with God that will cause things to shift. Let your spirit awaken.

Proverbs 20:27 The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all the inner depths of his heart.

2. Create Atmosphere

Soaking, Marinating In His Presence by Linda Harris-IorioWhen you skip your meal(s), make sure to incorporate times of worship, vocalizing your love for God. There is nothing more powerful than creating an atmosphere that exemplifies "Heaven on earth." Find a room in your house, and begin soaking in God's presence; take time to create that heavenly atmosphere.

When we welcome the Holy Spirit to fill our house, He comes and washes us, cleansing all of the spiritual debris away. When we make the Lord our dwelling place, we will create an atmosphere in every aspect of our lives where He is welcome. When He is our dwelling place, He makes His home with us.

Psalm 91:9-10 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.

3. Read, Write, Muse

Reflecting Him by Jennifer PageWhile you are creating this atmosphere, try to make a comfortable place for yourself. Get your Bible. Remove all your preconceived thoughts. Then ask the Holy Spirit to show you what topic, word, Scripture, or book He would have you read and meditate on. Grab your pen and paper and be ready for the Lord to speak to you.

Ask God to give you His heart, wisdom, revelation, and understanding. Be open to whatever God would show you. It may be something that is completely practical, an inspiring idea, or such. Sometimes He will give us things that we would think, "Oh, this is not spiritual." But in reality, it is, because He is speaking it to you.

Genesis 1:1 At the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

We need to remember that God created all things. He is the most creative Person. Creative ideas will come when you get in contact with the Creator. Get tapped into the creative nature of God. Allow His Spirit to "inspire you." As well, there will be some things you will need to write down for later, things to do, and etc. Write them down and come back to them after your time so that you can rest and focus on His presence.

Take time to "receive" what He is wanting to give to you. Unless we receive from Him, we have nothing to give.

  • This is an awesome read and have great insight. Focusing on how to make changes to something that you feel is not working. Doing something different can very well create the breakthrough you really need in your life. Yes, re-establishing a connection with God, we are people of having an audience, needing someone around us, talking to the wrong people, but if we begin to have a re-do, or an re-connection to God, it will cause an refreshing within ourselves. Because I really sense in my Spirit that’s what it going to take, even now than ever. I hear the word of God from 1 Corinthians 2:9-16 (NKJV)

9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the [a]Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. And Yet with these set of scriptures, we have to get at his feet to understand, I hear so many quoting this, and God is saying; they are missing it. My God. Yes, we have to create an atmosphere, a place for you and God; to really “get into His Presence”. I love this part, it is awesome. I know for me I have to have a pen and paper right by my side, to write and read what God is saying to me, because you will forget. I am thanking God for theses reading material. And I pray that we really take hold of what we are embarking on and not just doing it to say that we are leadershifters, or we went to the School of the Prophets, there is greater God is calling us to.

  • Amen,  Getting into the presence of God requires us to put the things of the natural aside (disconnect) and enter into the spirit realm of God petitioning Him with prayer. It is a place where all your cares in the natural do not exist anymore a place were you will experience His Peace, Love, Guidance, and so much more. Anyone that seeks him will find him and the more you seek the more you will desire to be in His presence. God has done his part for us to access the spirit realm it is up to us to enter, are you willing to do your part? Father, I thank You for allowing me to come into Your presence. The more that I encounter You the stronger my desire becomes to be with You. I love You..
